Gigues
The gigue (derived from "jig") is an ebullient, lively dance style of British origin. The gigue typically incorporates a compound meter, and follows a binary pattern, with two distinct (and often repeating) sections. The gigue was most prominent during the Baroque era, and was commonly used as the final movement in Baroque dance suites. It is one of the four standard movements of the baroque dance suite.
